Interning at the City of Austin
I was placed under the CTE department of Austin during my internship. Over the summer, I would work with 4 fellow interns to asses and resolve an issue of our choosing. We chose to create an app in which Austinites would be able to share dangers with each other called Austinformation. We worked in a professional environment over Microsoft teams virtually. My first job was remote! It was my first time regularly wearing business casual, so I had to buy some nice collared shirts. We worked on our own time and made plans as teams with applications like Trello, which is a board to help us organize our tasks. The supervisor treated us as professionals and left us to oversee ourselves. We worked with discipline and always finished by our self put deadlines to produce a working product at the end. We had the opportunity to pitch our ideas in a Shark Tank format to high level city employees and entrepreneurs. During my time working, we visited the LBJ library and the Capitol Factory. On the final day, I got to meet the mayor!
